An erstwhile Central Banker, Rajagopalan is presently a foreign exchange consultant (FEMA) and a Teacher on Central Banking functions as well. He has served the Reserve Bank of India for over three and a half decades in various capacities. Rajagopalan has rich experience in Foreign Exchange, banking Regulation and Supervision, Payment System and General Central Banking. In Foreign Exchange, he was heading the portfolios of External Commercial Borrowing, Overseas Direct Investment, Foreign Direct Investment, both at the policy and transaction level. He has also served as a ‘compounding Authority’. His stint as a member of Faculty in the Training College of the Reserve Bank of India for over five years was marked by contribution to several research papers, articles and academic projects apart from mentoring young executives. He co-authored the first draft of the ‘Red Book’ on India’s Payment Systems published by the Bank for International settlement. He had contributed to the establishment of India’s retail payment delivery channels. He holds a Masters in Economics from the University of Madras.
